Embrace Clinic & Care Center is expanding and seeking paid and volunteer positions. A Program Coordinator is needed for 10-12 hours per week. The Program Coordinator researches, plans, implements, and coordinates all current and future programs, educational and otherwise, offered by Embrace Clinic & Care Center. A Nurse Sonographer is needed 5 hours per week. Both are paid positions. For more information including job descriptions, email info@embraceccc.org. How we are created in the image of God and what our calling, as physical beings here on Earth, is to fulfill God’s unique and beautiful design for us. Blessings in a Backpack continues to provide the children in Green Local Schools with meals every weekend. Donations are always appreciated and useful. We can always use hearty soups, canned pastas like SpaghettiOs with meatballs, macaroni and cheese, and canned vegetables. Please bring the donated items to the Gathering Space in the back of the church. Place them in the cupboard marked “Blessings In A Backpack”. The Cluster Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 8, at Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church (2425 Myersville Road, Akron). Please bring your shawls and any work in progress. Also, donations to our homeless shelter can be brought at this time. The Institute of Catholic Studies at John Carroll University is pleased to present a panel discussion on the topic of: A Church that Empowers: Catholic Social Action in Cleveland. Sr. Kathleen Ryan, SND, previously the Director of Education and Legislative Affairs for the Diocesan Social Action Office, and Mr. Len Calabrese previously the Executive Director of the Catholic Community Connection of the Diocese of Cleveland, will share their experiences of this collaborative and consultative approach to Church life. This event will take place on February 17, 2022 at 7:00pm, in the O'Connell Reading Room in The Dolan Science Center at John Carroll University. Please come and join Queen of Heaven’s NEW International Prayer & Support Ministry for brothers and sisters from different countries around the world. The purpose of this international group is to help encourage people who live away from their country of origin and their families through fellowship, prayers and support. The participants pray in different languages as well as share their experiences and ideas. Click on the title to read more about this ministry.
The Ozanam Center in Akron located at the Visitation of Mary Church, 93 Kent Street, Akron, OH 44305, serves the people of our area with food and clothing. The center is a volunteer only based ministry. The center is only open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays except for holidays (volunteers come a half hour early). We are looking for more volunteers to help with distribution, especially sorting clothing and bringing it to the clothing room for people to pick. The next Queen of Heaven scheduled volunteer days at the Ozanam Center are Saturdays, February 12 & March 19, 2022, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call the Queen of Heaven Parish Office at 330-896-2345 if you can volunteer on either day.
