By Vatican News The streets will be empty this year as the world gathers, virtually, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. The annual celebrations usually see thousands of pilgrims making their way to the Shrine of Our Lady in Cova da Iria in Fatima, on the 13th of every month from May through to October – the days of the six apparitions of the Virgin Mary to the three children of Fatima in 1917. This year, due to the coronavirus measures, 350 groups have been forced to cancel their pilgrimages. There will be no pilgrims in Fatima and there will be no faithful present to celebrate this miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary on her Feast Day.

Our annual Solemn Eucharistic Devotions offers our parish a time to enter deeply into prayer and reflections in front of the Blessed Sacrament and reminds us of the gift of worshiping the Lord in the form of the Eucharist. A special commemoration of our deceased relatives and friends, and particularly those deceased in the last year, will be held at the regularly scheduled Sunday, November 3rd at 5:00 pm Mass. They will be prayed for out loud by name and with a lighted candle placed in a wooden cross filled with sand.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT THE NAME OF A LOVED ONE FROM THIS PAST YEAR FOR this special “Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed,” please call the Church Office at 330-896-2345 by Thursday, October 31st. OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY Living Bread Radio will be filming different parishes praying the rosary for their program "Power of the Bead." Queen of Heaven Parish has been selected as one of the locations for filming our parishioners praying the Rosary during two of the following dates in October; all the Rosary times will start at 7:00 pm. On the eve of Patriot's Day, Queen of Heaven will be praying a patriotic Rosary. Join us in the church on September 10th at 7 pm.

The Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:00 pm. The Feast Day Masses are on Thursday, August 15th at 8:30 am. in the church and 7:00 pm. outdoors. Note: This is a Holy Day of Obligation in which the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass.

The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood. The feast of the Precious Blood of our Lord was instituted in 1849 by Pius IX, but the devotion is as old as Christianity. The early Fathers say that the Church was born from the pierced side of Christ, and that the sacraments were brought forth through His Blood. "The Precious Blood which we worship is the Blood which the Savior shed for us on Calvary and reassumed at His glorious Resurrection; it is the Blood which courses through the veins of His risen, glorified, living body at the right hand of God the Father in heaven; it is the Blood made present on our altars by the words of Consecration; it is the Blood which merited sanctifying grace for us and through it washes and beautifies our soul and inaugurates the beginning of eternal life in it."
