OUR MISSION: Queen of Heaven Parish is a prayerful, vibrant and proactive community sharing Christ's love through numerous ministries.
Queen of Heaven's Music Ministry offers many opportunities for bringing music to our parish and community. Becoming a member of this ministry is a wonderful way to live out our parish mission by encouraging spiritual growth. There are many ways you can offer your time and talent to our ministry. If you can carry a tune and want to learn, come sing with us! The Adult Choir practices on Thursdays at 7:00 pm and the Youth Choir practices on Thursdays from 6:00 to 6:30 pm in the church, September to May; we begin our new year on the first Thursday after Labor Day, and the season ends on Pentecost Sunday. Our names are A.J. and Mary Hoy and we are the new Co-Directors of Music Ministries at Queen of Heaven Parish.
To give you a little bit of background on us, we are married (2017) and love to work as a team when doing ministry! We have a 17-month-old son at home named Marshall. He brings us so much joy! Mary is a first grade teacher for Lake Local Schools. She holds a B.S. in Education and Intervention Specialist from Walsh University where she also minored in music (piano) and art and is working on her MA in Educational Leadership at YSU presently. Mary has experience in liturgical music as the former Director of Music Ministries at Christ the Servant Parish (Canton, OH) and as a music teacher at South Boston Catholic Academy (Boston, MA). A.J. is a campus minister for the Diocese of Cleveland (at the College of Wooster and Oberlin College and Conservatory). He holds a B.A. in Theology and Philosophy (Walsh University), a Masters of Theological Studies (Theological Ethics) from Boston College, and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Theology (Theological Ethics) at Duquesne University. A.J. has experience in liturgical music as the former Director of Music Ministries at St. Mary Parish (Wrentham, MA) and as the Campus Minister for Liturgical Arts at Boston College.
We love working in music ministry in the inter-generational parish setting! Mary has plenty of experience with children’s choirs, A.J. loves working with adult choirs, and we both love working with youth and young adults. We love singing in choirs as well, and we’ll always sing right along with you! We are so excited to be joining the Queen of Heaven parish family!
Due to the pandemic we are not sure when we will be able to work together at full force. Please be assured that we, along with the parish staff, are in regular communication with the Diocese of Cleveland’s Office for Worship. Once we get the all clear from the Diocese we will look to start building up the music ministries at Queen of Heaven once again! We are looking so forward to meeting you, ministering with you, and growing together in faith with you!
Peace,
Mary and A.J. Hoy
