Please join the Queen of Heaven Junior High PSR students on Saturday, April 20th at 12:00 p.m. as they host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children of our Parish. Please arrive NO LATER THAN 12:00 p.m., in the PLC gym, and we will direct you and your child where to go to begin the hunt. Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 pm. The word Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." It can also be translated as "night" or "death." The Tenebrae service is an ancient tradition in Christian history that took place on one of the last three days of Holy Week: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, or Holy Saturday. The purpose of this service was to remember the somber events that occurred in Jesus' life from the exuberant entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through the night of Jesus' burial on Good Friday. Communion is often included in a Tenebrae service, as well. The most distinctive aspect of the service is the use of a Tenebrae "hearse," a holder for several lit candles. The flames of these candles are extinguished one by one as Scripture readings are shared to tell the story of Holy Week. The Divine Mercy Cenacle is small faith-sharing group (Cenacle) that studies Jesus' message of Divine Mercy through St. Faustina's Diary, Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The message of Divine Mercy emphasizes and promotes Divine Mercy as more of a devotion: It is a Way of Life. The cenacle meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month at 9:15 a.m. in Parish Life Center. This First Holy Communion retreat is for all 2nd Grade PSR students and their parents. Students will practice for their First Holy Communion Day and learn how to reverently receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist. Lunch is included.
