Labre is an outreach ministry that prepares food and distributes it to the needy every Thursday. We meet every Thursday of the year (except Thanksgiving), at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Life Center for food preparation, and then at 4:30 p.m. we depart for Akron to the Greater Faith Church for food distribution. The May monthly Grief & Loss Share Group meeting will be held at Queen of Heaven’s Parish Life Center (1800 Steese Rd, Uniontown) in classroom 1 on May 16th from 7:00-8:30 pm. This is a free event open to all who are grieving a loss of any kind, and will include a brief presentation, time for discussion/sharing and light refreshments. Our topic will be “Opiate Related Loss and Death,” presented by Ruth Ammerman Stimac, member of OhioCAN. The monthly share meetings are being offered by the St. Francis de Sales Consolation Ministry, Queen of Heaven’s Bereavement Ministry and Ellen Barber, Grief Specialist from Aseracare Hospice. The Church Environment Ministry serves to beautify the church and parish grounds i.e. adorn the altar area, create and maintain floral arrangements, prepare seasonal displays, clean and dust, tidy up pews and Gathering Space, plant, weed and water the flower beds, decorate statues, maintain the Angel Garden, and recycle plastic candles, glass and cardboard. Queen of Heaven Respect Life Ministry comprises of a passionate group of men and women who promote the defense and understanding of the sanctity of every human life from conception to natural death, according to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. They participate in 40 Days for Life, March for Life in Washington DC, Baby Bottle Campaign, Bake Sale fundraisers, Mother’s Day Flowers for Life, Death Penalty Awareness, Spiritual Adoption and more.
