Due to COVID-19, Queen of Heaven will only be collecting gift cards for the Green Good Neighbors Giving Tree Program this year. A tree is in the Gathering Space with tags for gift cards for children, teens and groceries. Please put any gift cards in the box under the Giving Tree. The Ozanam Center in Akron located at the Visitation of Mary Church, 93 Kent Street, Akron, OH 44305, serves the people of our area with food and clothing. The center is a volunteer only based ministry. The center is only open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays except for holidays (volunteers come a half hour early). We are looking for more volunteers to help with distribution, especially sorting clothing and bringing it to the clothing room for people to pick. The next Queen of Heaven scheduled volunteer day at the Ozanam Center is Saturday, November 20, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call the Queen of Heaven Parish Office at 330-896-2345 if you can volunteer on either day. If you cannot make either of those Saturdays, call 330-467-5762 (Cathie or Jim) to volunteer on a different Saturday.

Queen of Heaven Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference wants to say ‘"Thank you" for your donations to assist the needy in our area. Your donations this past year of $16,730.00 helped assist 42 families in amount of $10,655.00. Assistance included utilities, rent, housing for the homeless and school supplies. We personally contact or visit each family to assess their need and provide aid based on our visits. Thank you again for your support.

Gennesaret's 30th-annual Home Run for the Homeless benefit run/walk is being held in-person AND virtually. The in-person event is Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021, in west Akron (near/through Glendale Cemetery); the virtual run or walk is anytime in November. Register via www.gennesaret.net. Cleveland Clinic Akron General is the lead event sponsor. This is Gennesaret’s only fundraiser and the need to help the poor is urgent. Per-person registration fees are: four-mile run – in-person, $25 (includes finisher medals), or virtual, $20; and one-mile run/walk – in-person or virtual, $2.50.
