The Charles and Salome Reymann Foundation Casino Night fundraiser will be on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, 15 N. Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44303. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $75.00/person which includes admission, heavy appetizers, and two drink tickets. The evening also includes silent auction items and an Art Gallery hosted by Community Support Services. Charles and Salome Reymann were immigrants in the early 1900's, and founded The Atlantic Foundry in Akron, Ohio. As they grew their family of 16 children, two of which became Catholic priests (Fr. Albert L. Reymann, Fr. James J. Reymann), they donated land and financial support to build St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Ellet. One of the many cousins/connections to the Reymann Family and the Akron area is your own Fr. Semonin, who enjoys documenting the Reymann genealogy in his spare time! In commemoration of their patriarchs, the Reymann family descendants established The Charles and Salome Reymann Foundation, serving the developmentally disabled community in Northeast Ohio in 1967. Miracles still happen! In fact, a miracle happens at every Mass, when simple bread and wine are changed and become the Real Presence – the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Because of God’s grace and mercy, they still look and taste like food so that we can receive, as Jesus instructed us to do. But every now and then, God lifts the veil and shows us the real substance of what they have become. Medical and scientific evidence affirms what we already knew to be true! Literally dozens of these occurrences have been affirmed by the Church and have been curated by Bl. Carlo Acutis for display. Ss. Cosmas & Damian parish is hosting this display, with many interactive features so that many might come to acknowledge that Jesus meant what He said, and that what we receive in Holy Communion, really is the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus. Guidebooks will be available, and tour guides can be arranged for groups (in advance) on October 17-30, 2022, Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from noon – 4:00 p.m. There is no charge to visit, and all are welcome! Questions? Call (330) 425-8141.
