To honor the patronal feast day of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Monday, August 22, 2022, Queen of Heaven Church hosted a bus trip for the Cluster Parishes’ Pilgrimage to Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue, OH. This historic holy place began in 1850 with a small brick chapel, then replaced by a larger chapel ion 1870, burning in 1912 but within two years the present-day Sorrowful Mother Chapel was built. In 1968 a second chapel, the large contemporary outdoor Pieta Chapel was built nearby on the grounds. Parishioners and friends of Cluster Parishes, Nativity of Our Lord, St. Francis de Sales, St. Paul and Queen of Heaven churches spent most of the day walking and praying along pathways dotted with forty-one grottos, religious sculptures and Stations of the Cross. Each grotto is dedicated to a saint or mystery of Christ’s or the Blessed Virgin’s life. There are 120 acres of woods and lawns with landscapes of wildflowers and planted flower beds.
