Queen of Heaven is blessed to have four R.C.I.A participants who entered into full Communion with the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil, on April 3, 2021. Kayla Ross is our Catechumen who received all three Sacraments – Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation. Todd Bauknecht, Ian Dunn, and Nicole Reifsnyder are our Candidates; they received the Eucharist and Confirmation. Please remember all of them in your prayers.  

Why Catholicism?

• G.K. Chesterton once wrote, “The difficulty in explaining 'why I am a Catholic' is that there are ten thousand reasons all amounting to one reason: that Catholicism is true.”

• Nearly two-thousand years ago, Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church to preserve the truth he gave us and hand it down through the centuries, helping people all around the world encounter the love of God in every age and in every corner of the earth.

What is RCIA?

• What is it the Catholic Church offers to its almost one billion members that cannot be obtained anywhere else? Come and see…

• The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or more simply “RCIA,” is a life–changing journey of prayer and study with an emphasis centered on what Catholics believe and why we practice the faith the way we do.

• Within a relaxed and caring environment, RCIA participants come together weekly over an eight-month period to reflect on and discern their place in the Catholic faith.

Who is RCIA for?

• Anyone who has not yet been baptized.

• Anyone baptized in another faith who has a desire to experience the fullness of Catholic life.

• Baptized Catholics who have not yet been fully initiated into the Church by means of the Sacraments of the Eucharist or Confirmation.

• Anyone who wants to learn more about the richness of Catholicism.

Now is the time!

• For those who are curious about the Faith or who have not yet been fully initiated:

  • God is calling – he longs for a more intimate relationship with you! To answer that call and learn more about becoming Catholic and the RCIA program at Queen of Heaven Parish contact Deacon Steve at 330-896-2345 or smakara@qofh.church.

• For those already living the Faith:

  • Christ lovingly implores us to “Go and make disciples.” If you know a family member, friend, neighbor or coworker who is searching for a more meaningful life, then reach out to them with an invitation to explore what it means to be a Catholic – your invitation could be life-changing for you and for them.

This spiritual journey of inquiry continues from the fall until Easter Saturday evening, when the catechumens and candidates are welcomed into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

We will begin RCIA formation classes on Monday, October 5, 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm in the Gathering Space (back of church), subsequent meetings will be in the Parish Life Center Rooms 1 & 2.  Click on button below for the schedule of classes for October - December 2020.

If you are interested in becoming an adult member of the Catholic Church, please download and print out the registration form from our website at  https://queenofheavenparish.org/rcia; and then fill out the form and bring it at the parish office (M-F, 9:00 am-4:30 pm), or mail it into our parish office (1800 Steese Rd, Uniontown, OH 44685). Once you apply through the registration form you will be contacted by one of our RCIA team members.
